I was invited to give the 2018 keynote at the Committee for Interns and residents, a union for medical trainees that advocates for their needs. Though it is not possible for CIR to solve all issues in residency, I think it is vital for residents to be members of a union so that they have a voice in negotiations. I spoke about the risk factors for and life cycle of depression, and why it’s so hard for physicians to be vulnerable.
